Statue Petition

Petition for a Pete Sampras Statue

To All Pete Sampras Fans,

Pete Sampras, winner of 14 Grand Slams is a tennis legend who needs to be remembered not only by his tennis fans worldwide, but by all who attend the U.S. Open and all who see the Grand Slam on television. For this reason, we believe that a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open would be a wonderful way of giving recognition to his great tennis.

Please sign our petition to send to the USTA asking them to erect a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open in New York in recognition of his many years of great tennis.

By all means for one of the greatest players of alltime and who although he played with the spirit of compttitiveness one would expect from a champion he was also a gentleman on and off the court

Pete should be remembered for what he achieved for tennis in his won unique and modest way.
No other tennis player did it his way.
It would be nice if something special be done by the USTA to honour this outstanding American champion.

Pete sampras is simply the meaning of the word tennis to me. No one could ever be like him and no one can replace him, he is unprecedented when he played you could feel his magic, you could feel that you were watching a hero.

Just a pure genius on the tennis court.7 Wimbledons, 5 US Opens, 2 Australian Opens.could list more titles he holds but 14 Grand Slams speaks for itself! Also, what an amazing person off court too true gentleman and so modest and such humility! He deserves a lasting tribute like a statue in an unmissable position at Flushing Meadows!

To quote the great man himself "I'm a tennis player, nothing more nothing less, that's more than enough for me".What a way to end his emotionally driven speech at the Hall of Fame 2007. This is a guy who carried himself and represented tennis with great honour, humility and grace. Someone who I would want my own children to want to follow in every aspect. He was a true professional, a dignified player and brought me such joy watching. Please, please do this great thing of errecting a statue in a prominant place so that everyone who passes by during the US Open will be forever reminded just how great this guy was and still is!

What a true gentleman, true champion and ambassador Pete Sampras was and still is to the world of tennis. A pure joy to watch and I count myself among the lucky ones to have had the pleasure of seeing him play and win at Wimbledon (2000). It was a testament to his character and mental superiority how he overcame a painful injury to defend his title and break the Grand Slam record.and with his parents in the crowd watching too it was trully a monumentous achievement! So, a statue is the perfect, long lasting tribute for such an inspirational and much valued living tennis legend!

For the sheer joy of watching a master at work. Also, for the satisfaction of seeing a man conduct himself in such a sportsman like manner, no histrionics, no arrogance, no bad language. A true credit to the game and the human race.

One word.amazing! He was such a joy to watch, that serve.still the best ever 1st & 2nd! Those volleys, that running forehand! Simply the best! I hope that he gets a statue in a good spot at the US Open.his representation in the game is something to be applauded and acknowledged because he is what future generations of tennis players should look up to and want to be like!
