Statue Petition

Petition for a Pete Sampras Statue

To All Pete Sampras Fans,

Pete Sampras, winner of 14 Grand Slams is a tennis legend who needs to be remembered not only by his tennis fans worldwide, but by all who attend the U.S. Open and all who see the Grand Slam on television. For this reason, we believe that a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open would be a wonderful way of giving recognition to his great tennis.

Please sign our petition to send to the USTA asking them to erect a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open in New York in recognition of his many years of great tennis.

The Great Pete Sampras, simply the best tennis player to have ever played the wonderful game of tennis fully deserves to have a commemorative statue in his name at the US Open. He was always a true champion who never whined but just got on and played his beautiful serve/volley tennis. Everytime he walked out to play his matches, he showed what a wonderful role model he was to the youngsters, win or lose was always done with exemplary humility and grace. I believe it would be a great honour for the US Open to remember Pete (a true class act) in their hearts by placing a statue in his name at the Open.

It would be the most appropriate place to put a statue to honor the man who won his first and last Grand Slam there.

Pete said that a tennis player should be judged by game, brains and heart. He had them all, dedicated his life to making them the best he could, and also to be a credit to the sport in his life, on and off the court.

Pete Sampras should be remembered and revered as the greatest tennis player, and not only because of his 14 Grand Slams, but because he takes tennis to such a high and unique level with his serves and volleys! And he stayed soooo true to the sport!

Pete Sampras is a true ambassador of tennis. He is a quiet giant who showed his greatness in the way he behaves on court, by his pure talent and in all avenues of his life. He does not have to prove himself by being boisterous or a showoff, but speaks quietly and plays tennis like a Greek God. Pete will always be #1 in the hearts of his fans and those who truly know tennis greatness and should be honored as such by the USTA erecting a statue in Pete Sampras' honor at the US Open grounds.
