Statue Petition

Petition for a Pete Sampras Statue

To All Pete Sampras Fans,

Pete Sampras, winner of 14 Grand Slams is a tennis legend who needs to be remembered not only by his tennis fans worldwide, but by all who attend the U.S. Open and all who see the Grand Slam on television. For this reason, we believe that a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open would be a wonderful way of giving recognition to his great tennis.

Please sign our petition to send to the USTA asking them to erect a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open in New York in recognition of his many years of great tennis.

Pete Sampras is the eptomy of a champion. "Sweet Pete" made me a tennis fan. He always conducts himself with so much class, on and off the court. Too often he was criticised for not showing enough emotion. Never did he "Show Boat". Pete came to the court prepared to do his job to the very best of his remarkable ability. What a delight he was to watch, his serve and volley, and oh how he could jump and return a ball. With all of his talent, ability and outstanding records Pete Sampras deserves a statue at the U.S. Open to commerate his outstanding career.

Summers of Sampras. That's how I grew up. I would go to school all year long looking forward to the Slams in the Summer. I would get up early, stay up late, or tape matches if my mom made me go somewhere. I remember watching the record setting 13th slam victory and crying right along with him - all the time thinking he would never get the credit he deserved. He was never vocal enough to get the media attention of a McEnroe or Agassi. A statue would be the least tennis could do to pay tribute to his greatness.

Pete Sampras was one of the best tennis players that played.Maybe the best. He was quite a champion. He had class and talent. He definitely deserves recognition other than his numbers quoted everytime Federer wins. I have followed Pete Sampras ever since he was 18 years old. My feeling is that he was is the best tennis player of all time. Give him the acknowledgement that he so deserves.Pete your the Best!
