Statue Petition

Petition for a Pete Sampras Statue

To All Pete Sampras Fans,

Pete Sampras, winner of 14 Grand Slams is a tennis legend who needs to be remembered not only by his tennis fans worldwide, but by all who attend the U.S. Open and all who see the Grand Slam on television. For this reason, we believe that a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open would be a wonderful way of giving recognition to his great tennis.

Please sign our petition to send to the USTA asking them to erect a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open in New York in recognition of his many years of great tennis.

Pete Sampras might be the best player in tennis history.he is definitely the best and most talented player in the US History. But don't just look at his impressive stats. He was/is a role model especially for young people who look for somebody to follow.

He (along with other great ones, like Michael Chang, Jim Courier and Andre Agassi) helped Tennis to become nearly as popular as American Football, Baseball and Basketball in the 90s.

The USTA should also remember that a certain Pete Sampras helped the US Davis Cup Team to win their last title back in 1995 and is the youngest man ever to triumph at Flushing Meadows.

It might be a strange comparison: But when politicians get honoured for their sometimes questionable activities, a Pete Sampras deserves such a tribute in any case. Thank you.

Pete is remembered not as just a great American tennis player but also a great international sportsman. I cannot think of another personality more deserving of a statue in their honour.

If this statue could be somehow imbued with grace, humility, power, speed, finesse and grit (to name just a few traits held by the man himself), it will be a thing to behold.

During my youth from School,& Uni, & now my career & the one constant was my unweavering support & admiration of Pete. I always hoped to be able to watch him play live, well that wasnt to be.
But the thought of going to the US open to see firsthand the memories I had in my head & a seeing a tribute to the Legend would be a sweet thing.
So Lets honor a great champion.

AS far as I am concerned Pistol Pete deserves a statue to be erected for what he has done for the game. There is no other player greater or equal ever.

Only the best are immortalized in art and frankly, Pete is the best. He should be remembered not only for his skill or his wins, but for his class and the way he brought taste to the game.when he played was the only time I saw beauty and elegance in a match.

A statue would be a fitting tribute to a great American champion.

Pete Sampras should definitely have a statue created for him at the US Open and Wimbledon as well. I like that fact that many here have pointed out that not only did he match or break so many different records but that he did so despite his slow blood condition as well as fighting through various injuries and personal tragedies; these factors I really feel distinguish him from Federer, whom I also like, and not enough commentators make note of that when comparing the two. He will always be my favorite player and a classic example of the gentlemanly athlete.

Pete Sampras is the best tennis player of the modern era. Being an American it would be an honour to the country to reward him with a statue.

Sampras Rocks, there's no one else who has maintained the kind of consistency that he has especially on Grass courts, Wimbeldon for one is his home. Hope he's a hall of famer and the legend inspires another million hall of famers. But none like him!
