Congratulations Pete on Your Induction to the Tennis Hall of Fame

"I embrace the quiet way and I walked the high road as best as I could. Above all, I wanted to represent myself, my family, and the game in a way in which we could all be proud of.

"So as I take my place among the greatest players of all time here in the Hall of Fame, I stand before you both humble and grateful. I'm a tennis player, nothing more and nothing less. It's more than enough for me, it always has been, I thank you,"

- Pete Sampras, Hall of Fame Induction, July 14, 2007

The Legend Continues - Pete Sampras Wins 3 Champions Cups in 2007

Pete Sampras continued his winning ways by defeating Todd Martin 6-3, 6-4 at the Championships at The Palisades, Charlotte, NC. This marked his third win in as many events.

Pete Sampras has also won the Champions Cup in Boston and in his ancestral homeland Greece.

The Champions Cup in Boston was Pete's first competitive tennis match since winning the US Open in 2002. En route to his victory, he routed Petr Korda 6-1 6-2, steamrolled past Tim Mayotte 6-2 6-1, dominated John McEnroe 6-3 6-4 to face againt Todd Martin in the finals. Pete faced three matchpoints against Martin, but the champion prevailed 6-3, 5-7, 11-9 (TB).

The trip to Athens was special for Pete. Not only did he win his second Champions Cup, it was also his first visit to his ancestral homeland. "It's special being here, seeing my heritage," said Sampras, whose mother was born in Greece. "I plan on being back."
