FAQ on Samprasfanz@yahoogroups.com

Welcome to Samprasfanz!
This FAQ is designed to give you a better understanding of what our group is about, and to give you a general outline of the basic guidelines, as well as to help you get around on the main group site.

What is this?

This is a place for fans of Pete Sampras from all over the world to express their admiration for one of the greatest tennis players to ever play the game of tennis. We support Pete whether he’s ranked #1 or #150.

What are the ground rules?

This is an open forum. Everyone here is free to express their opinion on any given topic. However, we do ask that you refrain from excessive profanity when giving those opinions. It is not permissible to attack, taunt, or in any other way harass any other member of this group for an opinion expressed here in this forum. Taunting includes mocking any other members disappointment regarding the result of a match. Harassment includes sending other members nasty private e-mail about an opinion expressed here, as well as name-calling or pretty much any type of correspondence that makes them uncomfortable. Any of the aforementioned breaches of conduct can result in being disconnected from this group.

All in all, this is a very friendly, very lively group.

How do I tell others to sign up?

Simply have them send an e-mail to samprasfanz-subscribe@yahoogroups.com If you become disenchanted with this group in any way, or you are going out of town and don’t want your mailbox filled with messages from the group when you get back, simply send an e-mail to samprasfanz-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com

How do you get to the main group site? Am I allowed to use the features?

If you are a member of this group, you are free to use any of the features on the main site. This includes the chat room, the database, calendar, polls, etc. You are free to use the vault to upload pictures of Pete that you may want to share with everyone. Any jokesters uploading any porn or anything like that will immediately be removed from the group. The groups main site is located at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/samprasfanz. You will need to register as a member with Yahoo itself in order to have full access to all of the features.

I’ve got a Pete Sampras Website. Can I put a link here?

Sure. There’s a space on the main group site where you can add a link to your website. Any member is welcome to add their own site there.

Is this a pretty busy group?

Yes. Especially around Grand Slams. At it’s busiest you can get upwards of 40 to 50 e-mails per day, sometimes even more. So you have been warned!

Who’s in charge?

No one’s in “charge”. Members pretty much police themselves. This is a “moderated” forum. However, all that the moderator does is enforce the ground rules laid down, and that’s it. Any offensive posts will be removed by the moderator. The moderator has no rights to remove anyone from the group for any other reason than for violation of the agreed-upon basic rules that we go by in this forum.

Additional notes:
We ask that you sign your name to your e-mail so that we can easily identify each other, and not just be a collection of anonymous screennames. Also, please do not send personal correspondence through the group that is not Pete-related. This group already gets a lot of mail, and we want to keep the unnecessary posts to a minimum.

There is an area on the main site called the “vault”, where you are free to upload any pictures or articles on Pete to share with the group. Just go to the main group site, and follow the instructions there.

We all get along pretty well here. You will notice that some posters are more vocal than others. Please feel free to jump into the fray any time you wish. We hope that you enjoy this list.

Quite simply, the members here love Pete Sampras, and everything he means to tennis. If you feel the same way, then you should have a great time here!

Any questions regarding this FAQ or anything else can be sent to the group at large, or to the moderator directly.
