Sampras aims to halt slump in the Arizona heat

Pete Sampras is the top seed at the Franklin Templeton Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona. This is only the second tournament Sampras is participating in after his 4th round exit at the Australian Open.

Last week, Sampras lost to Chris Woodruff in the Kroger St. Jude tournament in Memphis, Tennessee.

"This year has been pretty frustrating so far," said Sampras and he is hoping to get his tennis season going in this tournament.

Sampras will face Australian, Andrew Ilie in the first round.

Also participating in the the 32-man field event is second seed Andre Agassi, who will face Francisco Clavet of Spain.
