Statue Petition

Petition for a Pete Sampras Statue

To All Pete Sampras Fans,

Pete Sampras, winner of 14 Grand Slams is a tennis legend who needs to be remembered not only by his tennis fans worldwide, but by all who attend the U.S. Open and all who see the Grand Slam on television. For this reason, we believe that a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open would be a wonderful way of giving recognition to his great tennis.

Please sign our petition to send to the USTA asking them to erect a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open in New York in recognition of his many years of great tennis.

Tennis is a main part of my life, and has been so since my childhood. I do love tennis, and I loved Pete. He represented everything that is pure and marvellous in tennis, grace, perfection, fair-play, surpassing oneself. And whether we like it or not, tennis is not the same anymore now that he is retired.

As his fans, we will never forget him and what he meant to us by walking on the court. But we have to remind those that do not know a lot about Pete, or that were born too late to admire him, of who he was as a tennis player and as a true gentleman. He is our own heritage, not only for us, but also for all of those who are lovers of tennis.

A Pete Sampras statue at the US Open therefore would be a wonderful way of showing his greatness and expressing our gratitude for all of what he achieved in our sport.

I started watching tennis and playing it because of Pete Sampras. His play is so beautiful and great. And he is very nice champion.

I believe that a statue of Pete at the US Open would be very fitting for Pete Sampras. Especially winning his first and last grand slam in Flushing Meadows.

I started playing tennis with my brother as a young kid and Pete Sampras was the reason. I loved watching him step onto the court each and every time, and he deserves a statue after all his accomplishments during his run on the tour. He changed the game in so many ways; he made so better tennis players out of so many people so that they can get up to his level. Please give him a statue.

Are you kidding Pete is THE greatest American Male player ever, thats really not even debateable. Class, poetry in motion, athletic, etc. How about what kind of person he is ? Son brother husband father whom if you didn't see his hall of fame speech is extremely sensitive, grounded and humble among many other outstanding qualitys. I'm a fromer college player, long time USTA menber/tournament player, and grew up a few years with his fromer coach Paul Annacone. I happily share Pete's birthday of August 12 . God bless Pete and his family and thank you God for his presence.

Please consider building a statue at the Billy Jean King Tennis Complex, to recognize Pete Sampra's final win, and 14th grand slam victory.

Pete Sampras is responsible for my "off the charts" enthusiasm and passion for the game of tennis. The style and the class he brought to the court, game after game, were winners in themselves.

In a league of his own.such prowess, such a fighter, so mentally tough.those volleys, that serve.just pure poetry in motion! His style of play is so missed.he has earned an honouring in the form of statue so I really hope this happens so that he will be forever immortalised in the place where it all started at the US Open!

The epitome of tennis in perfect form: Pete Sampras' service motion. I used to keep a magazine photo of this perfect form pinned up at work. You could say it was my pinup poster, but I thought it was simply art in motion!

I would love to see a statue of Pete Sampras at the U.S. Open, and hopefully, the next time I visit to see the Major there at Flushing Meadows. This would top it off for our tennis legend, along with a visit to christen and unveil the statue. I would hope Pete will make more appearances at all of the majors as well, even at the French to commentate for at least a few great match-ups, just as Agassi did for the Roddick v. Federer matchup. This would make for a very interesting match, and some well-respected critique de expertise. Let's make it happen!

I´m one of the "Inspired world wide"!
Our "pistol-pete" must finally be honored with a statue, where ever it is. Not only because Pete Sampras is the best player of the world. He is one of the best man of the world.

Yes, Pete should have a statue not only at the U.S. Open but at the Wimbledon Open as well.
