Statue Petition

Petition for a Pete Sampras Statue

To All Pete Sampras Fans,

Pete Sampras, winner of 14 Grand Slams is a tennis legend who needs to be remembered not only by his tennis fans worldwide, but by all who attend the U.S. Open and all who see the Grand Slam on television. For this reason, we believe that a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open would be a wonderful way of giving recognition to his great tennis.

Please sign our petition to send to the USTA asking them to erect a statue of Pete at the U.S. Open in New York in recognition of his many years of great tennis.

A Statue of Pete Sampras is a must at Flushing Meadows. More Grand Slams than anyone else, the youngest mens champion, six straight years ending at number one. Need I say more.

Pistol Pete was a true champion because he played against the very fierce competitive, topnotch players with two distinct styles (baseliners and serve-volleyers).

Pete Sampras stood for excellence and sportsmanship, and it is befitting that he be honored for his accomplishments in his home country in the tournament that he made his mark for the first time as a grand slam champion. By winning the US Open in 1990, he became the youngest male singles open champion at the age of 19 years, 28 days. Sampras has broken numerous records - winning 14 grand slams, (including 5 US Opens), being number one for a record 6 years and 276 weeks, being part of the Davis Cup .his accomplishments are too numerous to list. It would be nothing less than a shame if USTA did not honor the one of the best players of all time, and certainly the best player of his generation. A statue would make Sampras timeless in the annals of tennis history . like the man himself.

Pete Sampras never received the appropriate praise that he so humbly deserved, at the very least a statue of Pete should be made at the US Open. Give credit where it is deserved! There will never be another player like him.

The greatest player of all time should be honored in his own country's national tennis center.

I guess statues are symbols that remind us of the finest human endeavours. Thus, Pete is one of those few human beings that showed the highest commitment, skill, competitiveness and most importantly a very professional and ethic posture. All these features are backed up by his impressive results in the Tennis arena, and what a best reminder than erecting a statue to his honour
